The link over the peninsula stays unmade. The Baths of Aphrodite sit at the end of a surfaced road up through Polis, roughly 40 km north.
Three tracks and one road
Akamas gets talked about as a single destination. It is three unpaved approaches and one surfaced one, asking for very different cars.
The one the six exist for
Unsurfaced from Agios Georgios onward, loose over limestone, washed out and patched by whoever drove it last. Lara is a protected nesting beach, so how far you may go is set by the signs that week. A crossover reaches it in dry weather, uninsured. So does a four wheel drive.
Short, rough, routinely underestimated
The walk is the attraction and the drive to the parking gets treated as an afterthought, which is why it is done in the wrong car. The approach loses its surface well before the car park, and the gorge closes after heavy rain.
Tarmac to the car park, track beyond it
The Baths sit at the end of a made road from Latchi, about 40 km north by way of Polis, and every car on this listing gets there. What needs the four wheel drive is the ground past the car park.
Where a crossover is the right answer
Surfaced the whole way, quieter than the Coral Bay road, and it puts you on the north coast with the peninsula in front of you. If none of the six are free on your dates, this is the day that still works.
What the four wheel drive buys, and what it does not
Traction and clearance, which is most of the job
Power at all four wheels means a rutted climb out of a dry riverbed stops being a gamble on grip, and the extra height keeps the underside of the car off the rocks. Over the run to Lara Bay that is a real difference, and it is why the six are worth hunting for.
It does not rewrite the clause
The exclusion is written about the road, not the vehicle. Off the asphalt, the six are outside cover in the same sentence as the 19.
Damage out there is yours
A stone through the sump, a sidewall opened on limestone, a mirror taken by scrub. The waiver you paid for is outside its terms, so the bill arrives whole.
It does not open the beach
Lara is managed for the turtles that nest on it. What is driveable, and where a car may stand, is set by the wardens rather than by what you booked.

A great deal of it. The road through Peyia to Coral Bay and Agios Georgios is surfaced, and Polis, Latchi and the Baths car park are reached on a made road from the north.
It sits with you. On an unpaved surface the damage waiver is outside its own terms, so a stone through the sump is paid in full rather than to an excess. Recovery is a tow company you call and pay yourself.
