Seventy-two of the 140 cars here are driven to your accommodation, handed over there, and collected the same way.
Same as pickup
This is not a favour you negotiate at the end of a booking. Seventy-two of the 140 cars bookable in Paphos carry delivery as a standard option, and the suppliers who offer it do several a morning in season. Someone brings the car to your reservation address, hands the keys over at reception or in the car park, and leaves on foot.
The same few moments repeat on almost every delivery in Paphos, and the end of the hire runs them backwards.
At booking
Give the street, not the district
It wants the hotel name, the road it stands on and the name the room is under. One district covers several Poseidonos Avenue hotels.
The evening before
Fix the hour on a phone you can answer
The supplier messages to agree a time. Check the number on the booking works on a Cypriot network, and warn reception.
On the morning
The car waits, the driver finds you
Deliveries arrive early and park in the shade, not on the steps. Look for the person holding a folder, not for a car at the door.
At the handover
Licence, card, signature, keys
The contract is signed wherever there is a flat surface: reception, a lobby table, the boot lid. Licence and booking card out, both photographed.
Before you pull away
Walk round it while the driver is there
Four corners, both bumpers, the windscreen, the gauge, the mileage. Then out of the gate onto the left, and the first roundabout clockwise.
Two days before
Ask for the collection, it is not automatic
The same supplier will usually take it back from the same address, but it is arranged, not assumed.
The last morning
Time it to the flight, not to checkout
Photograph it parked and keep the sheet the driver signs. Hotels want the room by ten; flights leave at every hour.
Delivery is not the right answer for every arrival. These five shapes cover most bookings in Paphos.
| The trip you have booked | Delivered to the hotel | Waiting at the airport |
|---|---|---|
| You land after dark and drive straight on | Deliveries run in daylight, so not this one | The car is waiting when you are |
| Two nights by the harbour, then excursions | The hire starts on the morning you need it | You pay from the moment you land |
| The hotel has its own car park | Easiest version: the driver uses your space | Workable, but the drive in comes first |
| You are up in Ktima or above Peyia | Ask first: some suppliers price distance in | Reliable, but the climb comes after a flight |
| One car, one day, for Troodos | The cleanest way to run a one-day hire | Two airport runs for one day of driving |
The first two days by the harbour do not need a car
Kato Paphos does its sightseeing on foot: the harbour, the castle, the archaeological park with the mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings, all within a walk of each other. Delivery lets the hire begin on the morning the plan leaves town, usually the day Coral Bay or Petra tou Romiou goes on the list.
Coral Bay and the villas above Peyia
Twelve kilometres north-west of town, with the rooms spread thinly across the hillside. Worth more here than on the seafront.
A short, deliberate hire
Three days out of a fortnight, for Troodos and the road north to Polis. No luggage carried to a counter at either end.
And when it is not the right call
Sixty-eight of the 140 cars do not deliver, so asking for it takes a real bite out of the choice. If the model or the rate matters more, book from the wider list.
Delivery is a supplier setting rather than a class of car, which is why it cuts across the fleet. The 72 that offer it include compacts, family cars, SUVs and most of the minivans, so asking for it does not push you up or down a class.
The charge is where honesty matters more than a number. Some suppliers in Paphos deliver inside the town at no extra cost. Others add a fee, and a few work it out by distance, so a seafront hotel and a villa in the hills are not quoted alike. There is no single figure to give you, because there is no single policy.
So read the delivery line on the car you have chosen rather than the page it sits on. It tells you whether your address is inside that supplier's range, what the trip out costs if anything, and whether the same arrangement covers the collection. The suppliers Paphos Rides searches do not all answer alike.
The licence, and a permit if you need one
A UK, EU or EEA licence stands alone. From further afield, bring an International Driving Permit too. Whoever signs must be the name on the booking.
The card the booking was made with
In the driver's name. The one thing a driver in a hotel car park cannot work around for you.
A number that rings in Cyprus
The commonest reason a delivery goes wrong is a phone that stopped working at the border. Add the room number and a second contact.
Ten minutes you have not promised
Quick without being instant, and it goes badly while a taxi waits. Put it in a gap in the morning, not five minutes before a tour bus.
The option sits on the car, not on the calendar, so the list moves with your dates. Put them in and the cars that come to your hotel in Paphos stay in the results.
Find a car that deliversSeventy-two of the 140 bookable in the city, counted on the live listing. It runs across the compacts, the family cars, the SUVs and the minivans rather than one class. The other 68 are collection only.
Entirely on the supplier. Some deliver inside the town at no extra charge. Others add a fee, and a few work it out by distance, so a seafront hotel and a villa in the hills are not quoted alike. Any charge shows against the car before you book.
At the reception counter, on a lobby table, or on the boot lid, whichever is nearest. The driver brings the contract, checks licence and card, and signs the car over on the spot.
It depends on when you want to start driving. Landing late, or heading out of town before the hotel, argues for the car waiting at PFO. If the first day or two is spent on foot, delivery starts the hire on the morning you need it.
Usually yes, and with the same supplier it is the normal arrangement, though not automatic. Confirm the return address and the hour when you book, and pick a time that suits the flight, not the hotel checkout.
