Best when the first night is not in town

Best for a car you want for part of the week

Best if you are staying in the working town
Ktima is the old town on the hill above the resort strip. Its streets are steeper and narrower than anything by the water, so a compact is the easy choice here rather than only the cheap one.
Best if your address is a villa
Coral Bay is 12 km north-west, and the villas spread up the hill behind Peyia with little around them. A car is not optional up here, which is where having one delivered saves a taxi on the first day.

Not on the first day. The castle, the mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings are all within a walk of Kato Paphos. What a car buys is the rest of the west, starting with Coral Bay 12 km up the coast. A short hire mid-trip often beats one standing outside the hotel all week.
About 15 km. PFO sits south-east of the town near Timi, and the run in is quick outside the arrival peaks. The A6 motorway leaves the same junction and reaches Limassol in roughly 65 km, then carries on towards Larnaca.
One hundred km/h on the motorway, 80 on open roads and 50 in towns, with an alcohol limit of 0.05 percent.
Not a normal one. Past the Baths of Aphrodite the road becomes unpaved track, standard rental insurance excludes unpaved roads, and a saloon will not cope. Six cars in the listing have genuine four-wheel drive, and they are the honest answer to that trip.
