The cheapest lines here sit between 18 and 28 euros a day, and this page explains what moves them.
Same as pickup
On a thin listing the cheapest line is one car from one small supplier, and it disappears the moment two people want it. Paphos is not shaped that way. Sixty-three of the 140 cars bookable here are compacts, so the bottom of the range has depth rather than a single bait line holding it open.
Sixty-three cars in one class
Competition inside a class that size is what keeps the cheapest lines between 18 and 28 euros a day rather than letting them drift up whenever a week gets busy.
The cheap car is an automatic
Cyprus drives on the left and the fleet was assembled for it. 136 of the 140 cars change gear for you, and you would have to hunt for one of the four manuals.
Seventy-two will come to you
A rate that arrives at your accommodation and a rate you reach by taxi are not the same rate, even when the numbers match.
Floor and middle are far apart
The cheapest lines run 18 to 28 euros a day, the middle of the fleet 65 to 76. That gap is mostly choices you make, and the rest of this page is them.
Five things decide where inside those bands your booking lands. Four behave the way they do in any market. The fifth is the reason this page is worth reading, because in Paphos it has effectively been priced out of existence.
The season you are asking for
We sampled the listing a week, a month and two months ahead, and the four bands held on all three. What the calendar changes is depth, not the floor: in a busy week the small automatics go first, so the list you open starts further up. A hot week does not raise the price of a cheap car. It removes it.
How long you keep it
Suppliers price by the week, not by the day. A two day hire pays near the top of its band and a twelve day hire near the bottom of the same one.
How early you ask
With 63 cars in one class, the cheap end holds up near the date. Lead time bites hardest above the middle, where 15 premium cars and 7 cabriolets are the whole supply.
The gearbox, which does nothing at all
This is the input that has been priced away. With 136 of 140 cars automatic, the automatic filter neither thins the cheap end nor lifts it. In most markets the second pedal is what pushes a quote out of its band. Here it is what the fleet is made of.
Where the car meets you
Delivery belongs inside the price rather than beside it. If a delivered car costs a few euros a day more than one you collect, weigh that against the two taxi rides you would otherwise pay for. It is not free on all 72 lines, so read the line.
Paphos Rides reads these figures off the live listing, not off a rate card. Each row is the range that survived all three samples, so it describes the shape of the market in Paphos rather than a quote for your dates.
| Band | Day rate | What tends to sit there | What you give up |
|---|---|---|---|
| The cheapest lines | 18 to 28 EUR | Small automatic city cars on older plates | Boot space, and a queue of other people wanting the same car |
| The lower quarter | 45 to 52 EUR | Newer compacts, the smaller family cars | Very little worth naming. This is the working end of the list |
| The middle | 65 to 76 EUR | Family cars and the smaller crossovers | Nothing, you are simply buying boot space and a newer plate |
| The upper quarter | 95 to 105 EUR | Minivans, larger SUVs, some premium | Money. Above this line you are paying for specification |
The 7 cabriolets and the 20 hybrids are small enough that a range for them would be a range for one or two cars, so they are left out on purpose.
Length is the input almost nobody adjusts, and it has the clearest shape of the five. A supplier prices a week as a unit and a weekend as the exception to it.
One or two days
The most expensive way to buy this car: handover, cleaning and paperwork are carried by very few days, so the rate sits at the top of its band.
Three to five days
The rate begins to settle. This is the length people pick for a stay built around Coral Bay and Petra tou Romiou, usually without noticing how close the next step is.
Six or seven days
The week is the unit the market actually prices, and crossing into it is where the day rate steps down. Seven days often costs barely more in total than five.
Ten days and beyond
The bottom of the curve, where it flattens. Give the listing the whole span rather than two shorter hires back to back.

Cheap on this listing does not mean stripped. Every car in Paphos carries the same insurance ladder, third party liability first, then collision damage waiver, then super collision damage waiver, then a full waiver at the top. The level is a line you pick on the booking, and an 18 euro compact is sold against the same ladder as a 105 euro minivan.
Fuel is full to full. You take a full tank and bring a full tank back, and the only way that becomes a charge is if you do not.
Two things do vary line by line. Free cancellation is attached to a great many cars but not to all, and it separates a booking you can improve later from one you are stuck with. Deposits vary the same way: the amount held is a supplier's own policy, so treat it as a filter rather than a negotiation.
The bottom of this list is genuinely good value and it is not a trap. It is still worth three checks, because the cheapest car in Paphos is cheap for reasons, and two of them you can measure before you book.
Measure the boot, not the car
The cheapest class here is small in the way small cars used to be. Four adults and two large suitcases do not go into one, and learning that at the handover is how a cheap hire becomes a paid upgrade.
Check where you plan to drive it
Standard rental insurance in Cyprus excludes unpaved roads, and the tracks out to Lara Bay on the Akamas peninsula are exactly that. A compact is right for the coast road and wrong for the headland.
Take the cancellable one when they are close
A cheap line you can cancel beats a slightly cheaper one you cannot, because the listing reprices as the date approaches and you can still take the better car.

The bottom of the list
One step up, the lower quarter
Every count and range on this page came off the live listing, which reprices on the dates you give it. The economy filter narrows it to the cheap end of the Paphos fleet, with the deposit rule and the cancellation terms shown on each car.
See live pricesThe cheapest lines sat between 18 and 28 euros a day on all three dates we sampled. Treat that as a band rather than one car: 63 of the 140 cars here are compacts and they compete with each other, which is what holds the floor steady. The middle of the fleet sits at 65 to 76 euros, nearer where most bookings land.
No, and that is the unusual part of this market. 136 of the 140 cars are automatic, so the filter barely changes the list in front of you and does not lift its price. Cyprus drives on the left and the fleet was built around that, so the gearbox that is an upgrade line almost everywhere else is the standard specification here.
Less than you would expect at the bottom of the list. With 63 cars in the compact class, the cheap end does not empty the way a thin market does, and a cheap car stops being available rather than becoming dearer. Lead time matters far more above the middle, where 15 premium cars and 7 cabriolets are the whole supply.
Usually, and it is the saving most people leave on the table. Suppliers price the week as a unit, so the day rate steps down when you cross into one and flattens again past ten days. A one or two day hire is the most expensive way to buy the same car.
The same insurance ladder as the rest of the fleet, from third party liability up to a full damage waiver, and a full to full fuel policy. What varies line by line is whether cancellation is free, whether the supplier will deliver, and how much is held as a deposit. Read those three before comparing day rates.
